Susan, I am eighteen years old and i have been sexually active for the past two years yet i've never had an orgasm. My boyfriend and i talk and try different techniques and nothing seems to work. What can i do?
Sorry, but probably nothing you can do, but wait for your body to grow up and mature. Orgasm is a combination of things happening in your body - some of it has to do with what is being done to your body, some of it has to do with what is going on with your brain, and some of it has to do with the way your body responds.
A body will only respond in orgasm when it is physically mature in particular ways. This has to do mostly with hormones. Shere Hite did a study in 1976 that asked women when they experienced their first orgasm - and over 50% had it after they were 18. So count yourself as among the 50% normal adult women who have to wait for orgasm until they are legally adults.
Some of her other research concluded that some women ONLY orgasmed when they masturbated. They had great partner sex, but were unable to orgasm. A few women could ONLY orgasm during partner sex and could not during masturbation. MANY women only experience orgasm from clitoral stimulation - and few experience it only from vaginal
intercourse. Some women are lucky and can experience both.
