Does this have any consequences? is it something that is OK to do regularly?
And for how long (10 days max for her pills)? does eventual problems increase with
a longer delay?
Yes the longer you delay, and the more often you do it the more potential consequences there are.
Usually people do this because they are going on vacation or getting married or have a very special event in their life - and they don't want to be menstruating while it is happening. They don't take the sugar pills for as many days so that their menstrual period starts 1-7 days earlier - or they skip a few extra days so their period starts 1-7 days later. (If she makes it start later - then she is not protected from pregnancy until her next period starts - so this needs to be done a month ahead - if having sex is part of what she wants to be happening during the special event.)
Sometimes the timing is always bad - and for some reason they want their period to start closer to the first of the month rather than the end of the month. So if you make it start a week or two earlier - you just skip taking the sugar pills one month and you start a week earlier, and the next month do the same thing. ( It is better for your health to make it earlier- than make it later.)
What is it you are trying to accomplish?
A menstrual period is intended to be regular. Women who do not have regular periods have more cramping, irritability, and just a general hard times with their periods. Women who do not have regular periods have no idea when they are really protected from getting pregnant. A woman who tries to change her menstrual period too often may find that she has difficulty getting pregnant in the future OR has difficulty preventing pregnancy and gets pregnant even when using birth control.
Tell me why you guys are doing this - or contemplating this - and maybe I can help you do it in a safe way.

Re: Delay period with birth control pills

Thanks for the information!
The case is that next weekend it is her brothers confirmation and I will attend.
It is about one month since we have seen each other as I live quite far away.
Her menstruation will start on friday, and she has been talking about
delaying her period a couple of days, partially because the confirmation and partially
because I'm there and she wants to have sex (I also do, but I'm unsure if
it a good enough reason to delay her period). If she is not protected until the next
period starts it is not a good idea either.
The best solution is probably to consult the hmm, I'm not sure what is it called,
most highschools have a person that has office hours where the pupils can get
assistance in such issues like contraption, etc..
anyway, she is not eager to do that.
My conclusion is that it is not worth any potential problems, we can still cuddle/kiss etc.. I'm very happy to just see her anyway..
Doing it once or twice a year is no big deal. It sounded like you were planning to do it on a regular basis.
If she is due on Friday-there may be nothing she can do anyway. She is probably already started to skip pills or take sugar pills this month- so her body is already preparing for Friday. If it is next Friday though - she can just skip the sugar pills and just start into the regular pills and skip one period. From now on her periods wil start one week earlier. She won;t be risking pregnancy at all.
Just kissing and snuggling is also a good solution.
But there is another solution. Invest in some dark red, or brown towels - and have sex anyway. Put them on the bed and put a garbage bag / big piece of plastic underneath it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having sex while she's menstruating - its just messy.
I think it is on the first friday (7th of may) she will take the first sugar pill.
So if she just starts on a new series of pills instead of the sugar pills on friday (7th)
her period will be delayed until?, heh, this stuff is a bit hard to understand for a guy...
I think she know more than she tells me anyway, but I want to know myself just to be sure
that everything is okay.
I have proposed the solution of trying even if she is menstruating,I don't have any problems with that, but she does not want to even consider it.
What about oral sex during menstruation? as far as I know it is not
dangerous in any way, but I suppose the taste may not be pleasant?
Pyid
Oral sex is safe while menstruating. She can wear a tampon during oral sex and just tuck the string inside.
If she skips taking 7 days of sugar pills her menstrual period will start 7 days early. That is why skipping starting May 3rd. is too late for May 7th - she should have already started skipping them.

When she don't take the Sugar pills, can't she replace them witht he Other pills, and she'll be ok?
