a few days ago, i noticed i had a bump under the skin on my penis. if i pinch the bump, i can feel it is in the skin, and not on the actual penis shaft. its about an inch up from the base of penis, and the bump is about half a cm squared. it feels quite hard too, but doesn't really hurt if i touch it or pinch it a little.

is it a cyst or something?

what can i do to make it go away? i'm becoming really self-consious about it.


any help would be great.

It sounds like a normal clogged skin pore to me. Lots of guys have these. If it doesn't hurt and it doesn't get bigger- just leave it alone. It will go away on its own. You might try putting a hot compress ( a wet rag/wash cloth) on it and then very gently squeezing it if it is really bothering you - but that could make it sore- so be careful.

The next time you go to a doctor -- show it and they can probably do a quick cut/lance and be rid of it if it is still around.

If it starts to grow or it starts to hurt - then see your doctor immediately.

Don't be embarrassed about it- penises have all sorts of things different about them.

also, what would cause it to clog? i've never had anything like this before happen, so i'm obviously quite curious.

Clogged skin pore = pimple. But on a penis it feels quite different as it doesn't have the face underneath it. It usally happens because of abbrassion--too tight jeans, masturbation without lube, puberty, life in general, luck <S>!

Lancing wouldn't hurt - very quick a few drops of blood, and all gone.

i'll wait it out for a few weeks and see if it goes away on its own. then go get stabbed, haha.

i'm just curious about something else. how long do they usually take to go away on their own? its been about 2 1/2 weeks i've had it now. i tried the hot compress and squeeze, but had no luck. i pressed as hard as i could, and it didn't "pop" or anything.

i'm really shy about going to see a doctor about it, can't help it, but i am. so i'm hoping it will go away on its own, but at this rate, doesn't look like it will anytime soon.

It's really nothing to worry about. It could be there for a month or two. Not really a problem if it never goes away. Stop thinking of it as a problem and just ignore it.

Yeah man i had one a while back and it took over a month to go away. But it did go away, so just give it time. Just try not to irritate it and it'll clear up.
