You start with friendly conversation. Then if the friendly conversation leads to another conversation and another....maybe she is interested in you as more than just a friend. Take the friendly conversation one step further and see if she would like to go on a date- dinner, movie, a walk in the park. If she says yes---then sex might be a possibility.
