Hi susan!
I was reading this article on the net abotu HPV and how they have found a vaccine for that virus. I know it is one of the contributory course to cervical cancer. What i want to know is if HPV considered a STD, do they do blood test or any sort of test for that virus? Do they do that test on blood donors?

I doubled checked and what has been true continues to be true - there is no HPV test for men - except in research.

Part of what a pap smear is is testing for HPV.

A blood test for HPV doesn't exist- because you have to "grow" HPV from a cell that contains HPV.

Thanks! That sucks doesnt it? They should come up with an antibody assay for that. Kinda weird that they could come up with a vaccine and not with a proper way of testing.

The vaccine is still in research and has been used only on women and girls - so it isn't that far along yet.
