pain

I've been in a relationship for 10 months now and we always use condoms as a precaution. I have had some symptoms such as pain during sex and a burning sensation afterwards (sometimes)and itching. I went to a sexual health clinic to have some tests done and the results for all STDs were negative except for bacterial vaginosis. I took antibiotics and I'm still using a cream precripted by the doctor. Although the itching has gone I'm still experiencing the other symptoms. Now we're having difficulties having sex, as in we cant initiate penetration due to the pain. Please help me because I dont think they can do anything else for me at the clinic since I've already had all the tests, thank you.

BV is not a sexually transmitted disease.

It is an infection women often get because bad bacteria is where good bacteria should be.

Did you take all the medication? Is it all finished. It might not clear up until it is all used up. Sometimes you might need to take it longer than the doctor thought.

You could have it again if you do anything that makes it happen.

Some of the causes are:

1. When you wipe you wipe from back to front getting feces/bm/shit into your vagina

2. Too much moisture around your vulva. This can be from wearing tight jeans, nylon underwear,  panty hose, latex, or just not keeping clean.

3. Using a douche, vaginal deoderants, shaving your vulva/vagina area using shaving cream or lotion, using perfumed soaps, spraying perfume near your vagina

4. Condoms can help, but they can also hurt. Try changing the brand of condom you use. Change the kind of lubrication you use .

5. Having an allegy to your laundry detergent.

So this is what I suggest. I used to get this all the time. Change laundry detergent ( Personally I found All & Cheer were a problem), stop wearing underwear until it is gone and doesn't come back (I still don't wear it - 25 years later), stop wearing regular panty hose- wear ones with cotton crotches or cut the crotch out, until this is cleared up wear jeans as little as possible and when you do wear them- no more than 3 hours at a time. Get some baby wipes - and use them after you go to the bathroom - best ones are not perfumed/ aloe is ok.

This can be a really toug thing to get rid of. You may find you get it over and over and over like I did. (dozens of times until I stopped wearing underwear - never since I stopped.)

Good luck!!!!

Susan
