What is White Coat Syndrone or WCS? It is that fear you have of having a doctor check you out...that he or she might find something bad or just the fact that you have strange hands touching or probing you or that you are simply in a strange office. At this point, most people's blood pressure elevates by several points.

See what I'm driving at? I just wonder how many thousands of people are being treated for high blood pressure when they actually have WCS or simple nervousness? Every time they see the doctor, they test high for blood pressure. Is it you?

If you are visiting a doctor, you should ALREADY know your blood pressure numbers. (Write them down in a book) You can borrow or buy a tester or drop into a supermarket that has a tester. Don't let them tell you that your blood pressure is high when you know it isn't. Most doctors will have you test at home first before they put you on meds, but I bet there are many that don't. Testing should be done quietly at least an hour after eating and at a time when you can rest a few minutes before hooking up.
Do not do multiple testing on the same arm, minutes apart.
Remember that certain meds raise blood pressure.
