why do i feel like crying?

Dear Susan,

This has been on my mind for some time. I'm wondering why during sex at times I feel like crying. Its like the intenseness is too much, but the sense of wanting to cry isn't in a negative way, somehow it is as if its part of the intense arousal, the coming release? I stop myself from letting it out and I think that has an impact on the incline to orgasm. Is it part of some women's orgasms? I'm a bit confused...

Thanks,
Rose

Rose,
Yes, crying is a part of many women's orgasm. Yes, it is part of releasing everything inside you. And yes, when you stop the crying, you stop the orgasm.

If I were you though I would let my partner know I might cry and not to be worried - that when and if you cry it is a good thing.

Emotional Rescue

August 27 2005, 6:18 AM

Dear Rose,

We all cried as kids; when things didn't go right; when we didn't get our way or fed, or sometimes over nothing at all. It released the frustration we felt and we felt so much better after.
Today, in this world of unrest, bad news, higher prices, conflicts in our families, political pressure etc. (which will always be present), we have reason to be upset. And if you are just like me, you will have tears in your eyes just watching a soul-wrenching movie....or looking at gas prices rise, but we feel we are adults now so we don't have to cry anymore. ANY emotional incident or period of depression may bring us to a point of tears.
Some people release tension by sexual stimulation; others by laughing over something funny; some by talking loudly or screaming at just anyone ( which explains your loudmouth bosses attitude, and others try to bury it with a bottle, drugs or smoking or by writing a book or a dumb composition like this one. This release or dampening of energy, however we do it, hopefully makes us feel better.
I think that each of us has to find a private time when we can just let out this pent-up emotion. The point is if we can't remember when we had a real good cry, maybe it's time. Logically speaking, if we release mental pressure first, maybe we can enjoy physical pleasure more. But, then again, who is logical?

So, maybe it's like Susan says, it's normal for you and let it out.

I think crying during sex will make your boyfriend think it's causing you too much pain. Probably a good idea to discuss it with him first.

about those tears

Hi All,

Thanks for your comments I have had food for thought, its great I love this site!

Susan, hmmmm well I dunno if feeling like crying is part of my orgasm or as Gregorio says in his post its a release for other society reasons, or maybe a combination of both that in my case effect each other. So, I took both your advice and went with the flow, it was interesting.... As i climed to climax i felt the intense emotions coming and having previously decided to let go... I flowed, i didn't end up crying but allowing things to flow the whole experience was much better.

Steve, thanks very true I agree. He has asked me during sex if it was hurting, think it was the look on my face... I said no, that it was just very intense, that's what it was/is like. I will explain to him more though, so he doesn't think its hurting.

Cheers,
Rose
