Boys' Anatomy Question/s

I have a baby boy that was circumcised (excuse me if that is spell wrong). He is 9 months old. (Sorry also if this is the wrong type of question for this type of site!!)

I have been pulling back the loose skin on his penis, like the doctor said, and cleaning it every diaper change, as well as every single night in the bath. Well, I guess I haven't pushed it back far enough because it has grown over the penis head again and is now stuck (they told me this could happpen but I thought I was doing everything right. In hindsight I think I was being too careful because I wasn't pushing it back far enough out of fear of hurting him). I have done him a disservice now, because it will have to be 'popped' or whatever they call it. I have read that doctors will either need to push it back with force or make a new incision at the base of the head of the penis. Can anyone give me any information on this? Gregorio? Moms of boys? Men?? Susan?

I decided the other day to try to apply a little pressure on it to see if the head would pop back out by itself. It did somewhat, but my poor baby cried and it started to bleed a tiny bit, so I couldn't bring myself to do it again. He seems scared of diaper changes now... sigh. I don't want to hurt him.

What will a doctor do? I don't want them to make another incision because that seems like it would always leave a weird extra layer of skin on the head of his penis as he gets older; am I crazy or what?

Thanks for ANYTHING you can tell me about this.

Give your baby a warm bath soak. 20 minutes or more. Keep putting in warm water to keep it warm.

Then use massage oil, unscented. Baby oil is fine. (Silicon sexual lubricant is better. I sell it on my webpage http://www. sexsupport.org/toys.html - I think it is so great.) Massage his penis and gently push the skin back. If you can get your finger inside the opening of the foreskin -push your finger in and try moving you finger in an expanding circle. You can do this 3 times a day.

PLEASE don't feel any guilt for doing this. You are doing this to help your baby - there is nothing sexual about it.

If they talk about a furth er circumcision they might be thinking of a dorsal cut - where they cut a bit lengthewise

Good luck and let me know if you have any success - it might take a week or more.

I don't know how on earth I would get my finger under his foreskin... he's 9 months old; his penis is tiny. I wouldn't think a finger would fit under even a grown man's foreskin... (??)

The skin has actually grown over the head of his penis, and is stuck... I know that basically ripping it away (by pushing backward forcefullly) from the penis head would work but I can't bring myself to do that to him.

This is called a 'skin bridge' as far as I can tell... I couldn't find much online about it though.

It is hard to tell you what it looks like... imagine the penile skin going straight until the tip of the penis. Now there is a lump around where the base of his penis head would be, instead of the actual base of the penis head, because the skin has grown over it. Man, it is hard to explain. I will try to find more info on it.

I guess I am really concerned about what the doctor will want to do.

Thanks Susan, you are great for spending your time answering questions for everyone.

Okay I tried to find some pictures online of the problem. These are pictures of skin bridges that have encircled the entire head:

This is what it looks like (only a baby's, obviously) as opposed to him having a more pronounced head.

Can anyone help me to understand what a doctor might do to fix this? I am scared for my son! I certainly don't want him to have any scar tissue. The site these pictures came from is scary!!

My approval isn't working for your additona l message for some reason. Help MIke!!! ( I try toc heck back later from a different browser.)

You won't get your whole finger in/under it. just the tip of probably your pinky. Just get any amount inside and rub in circles until you start to get in further. If your finger is lubed this should not hurt him - it actually will feel good if he has first had the warm bath which relaxes the skin - soften any secretions underneath that might have hardened.

On any cuts or flakes, you could try neosporin to soften and heal.

I think that is probably a good decision...for your peace of mind. If there is any kind of minor adjustment/ surgery needed, this is the time to do it.
