| Susan, I have not been able to find anything remotely similar on here so here goes... I have found in peri-menopause that I will frequently bleed after vaginal intercourse, been checked out and know I'm ok. There's also extended times of light "period like" bleeding which is (or was) unusual for me, used to be light, short & easy. My lover is super and understanding but sometimes prefers vaginal,(as opposed to anal), if I'm on an extended bleed, I've been using a tampon, once he goes in with plenty of lube, it pushes up to my cervix and keeps the blood effectively stopped- I had read somewhere that this was an old prostitute trick, and guess what, it works!! I have left it in just till morning a few times to keep the sheets clean and get my after sex cuddles and doze off. I havent had any problems or infections so far but maybe I've been extremely lucky- is this a "safe" practise? Have you heard of it? Does anybody else here do this?
In case somebody tries this before we hear from Susan- BE WARNED- the pull string ends up inside too, so there's some digging involved to get it out, best done in the shower!!

Yes, I've done this. Never had a problem, but it does pose a risk. Little bits of the tampon can be broken off during sex and get lodged inside your vagina (but eventually slide out on its own). So you could end of with a smelly vaginal infection.
But there is an alternative I've used and liked better. There are these new menstrual cups. (Instead) They are like disposable diaphragms that collect the blood until you pull it out. I wash them well, dry, and reuse.
There are also reusable menstrual cups called Divacup and Mooncup and the Keeper. |

And they don't dislodge during sex? I have an older daughter thats been using these for menstruation and said they do not last very long as far as not leaking, but she still prefers them. I'm not sure what brand she uses. These also require some digging to remove, correct?
Another thought...is one able to place this cup, and then wash or douche with it in place to be clean enough for oral? My guy is willing, but I personally don't feel "clean" with the tampon, not enough for that.
Thanks again. |

They really should not leak - so she may hve the wrong size. They are not likely to dislodge. And yes they are perfect for oral sex (the main reason I use them). | |
