| Wake up kids- and others that have indiscriminate sexual contact!!!
I was informed that my 16yo girl has HepatitisC, since she has never been an IV drug user or medical personell, chances are it was contracted from sexual contact. She is SURE it's from sexual contact.
I know all of us here have the information we need to keep ourselves as "safe" as we can, but so did she! Did she use precautions EVERY time with EVERY partner? There is no way to know for sure. Do YOU? EVERY TIME??? AND use your method of safety CORRECTLY-EVERY TIME???
I know this community ( MY community, not here on this board) is one that has been gripped by the new craze of "orgys" among the teens, so WHO she got it from probably can't be determined- but would YOU do the "right" thing if you found out YOU had a sexually transmitted potentially life-threatening disease? WOULD YOU go to each individual that may have been (or was) exposed to YOU and tell them they need to get tested?
Think about it very seriously, maybe YOU are a virgin, but "A" your new friend, had sex with only one other,"B". "B" says they've only been with one other too, that would be "C". But what you dont know is that "C" had two different partners,"D" and "E", and one of those partners was with MY girl!!That makes SIX people you are exposed to including one with a disease that you arent aware of!!
Maybe I'm being dramatic- but is a night (or 5 minutes) of sexual contact worth DYING for??? |

I am so, so sorry. We try so hard to protect our kids. This is one of the reasons why I started this site - to try to protect kids from having the experience your daughter and you are now going through - and will be going through for the rest of her life.
For those of you who do not know Hepatitis C as is all forms of hepatitis passed by blood. If can be an extremely tiny amount of blood - so tiny you can't see it. You can get it from sharing items that have had contact with blood - like your toothbrush, a towel, piercing jewelry, or a razer. It can come from skin to skin contact (when blood is present) - so from kissing or oral sex if your gums are bleeding (like after you just brushed your teeth), from fingers that have hang nails or paper cuts, from having rough sex if your skin tears - even the teeniest tinist amount, from your acne - anytime your skin has the tiniest opening. It can come from unsterilized piercing or tattoo or manicure equipment.
Hepatis C has no known cure. There is no vaccine. Hepatitis C can be very mild for many years and then get very severe. Most people (80%) with Hepatitis C will eventually have their livers stop working and need to have a liver transplant. A liver transplant is not a cure - it just replaces the liver the Hepatitis destroyed. Some people who live long require more than one transplant. Survival after getting hetatitis C is another 40 years.
Hepatitis can cause extreme fatigue. So a person may be unable to work, socialize, raise a family. They cannot drink alcohol, use aspirin, or some vitamins. There is treatment to help with the symptoms, but it does not get rid of the disease.
Protect yourself!!!! Sex is not just fun and games.
Learn to use condoms! Use lubrication! And think seriously about casual sex before you do it!!!! | |
