I have a male friend that had Fournier's gangrene, he has had surgery and has very bad scaring,he is worried to have sex, out of rejection which i think is just crazy. my question is: does he need and special protection etc because of the fourniers gangrene? Is it closely related to hiv, or aids?

His fear of rejection is unstandable and not out of the question. But a person who would reject him is a person I wouldn't want a relationship with.

As to protection...that depends a lot on why he got it in the first place. If he got it because of a piercing - then he needs to take extra care of his piercing to keep them clean. (And probably should let them grow closed.) If he got it because he has diabetes, he needs to keep his diabetes under control. If he has HIV - he needs to be under doctors care.

But once the affected is skin is gone and he has followed the medical regime and the doctor says its gone - its gone. He can't pass onto to someone else what he doesn't have anymore.
