Susan as you know i had a baby 6 weeks ago. I bled for 3 1/2 weeks. (lochia) I got my period 3 days ago, and it only lasted one day. Now it started again this morning and by night it stopped again. What could be going on here. I have to go for my check up soon, but can you give me an idea. Could it be my period or is it something else?

Post menstrual bleeding is NORMAL for many women for up to 6 weeks. The first few days MIGHT be very heavy bleeding. Then it should become much lighter with POSSIBLY an occasional chunk.

The first menstrual period is usually about 6 weeks post birth. So if this bleeding is similar to your formerly typical menstrual period - I would guess that is what it is. If it is much heavier or very chunky - then get an earlier doctor appointment.
