Skipping a period?July 11 2006 at 10:43 PM | Mike (Login greeksta) SexSupport |
| Hi Susan,
My gf has been on the pill for three years and she decided this time to start another package to skip this months period. She's on her second pack, 4th pill tonight and she's having spotting like she's about to start her period.
She would like to know why this is happening and if it's not working for some reason and she'll have her period soon or if this is just a temporary thing that will stop by tomorrow.
She has not missed any of her pills lately so it's not from that.
Thanks as always for all your help!
- Mike

After 3 years her body is in a pattern and having a hard time stopping. It is likely just going to spot for a day or two.
It is safe to do this after you have a well established period a few times a year (1-2). Women often do it during their honeymoons.

Hi Susan,
Thanks for commenting last week about skipping a period. I've waited these last few days (since you said I should only be spotting for 1-2 days) and I've got spotting for the last week now!! It's not a flow like my normal periods. Is this normal? How long will this last! ... sigh, I should have just continued with my normal habits and not skipped >|

Christina,
Bodies get used to things a certain way. And your body evidently really likes things a certain way and no other. It is two possibilities. 1. The spotting is totally unrelated and you have an infection, or a cyst or something that is bleeding. 2. Your body is going to be out of sorts until you are back on schedule. So start by starting your next pack of pills whenever it would have been you woudl have started them ordinarily. If things are still weird after your period starts and then stops - time to see the doctor.
