My boyfriend and I just had sex yesterday. How long should I wait before I take a pregnacy test to see if I am pregnant or not?

Thanks,

Lu.

If you didn't use protection - go to a doctor tomorrow and ask for the "morning after" pill. You can stil use it if you go tomorrow. Planned Parenthood can help if you don't know where to go. Do it quick though - it won't work much past tomorrow.

If you don't do this, you have to wait 10 days.

A sperm can be swimming around inside you or take a long time to implant in you - so if you take the test too soon you only know if you ARE pregnant, not if you AREN'T.

If you take the test too soon, you just have to take it again after 10 days.

If the test is positive - go see a doctor straight away to get the test retaken ad to get the prenatal health care you need asap.

If the test is negative - you could still be pregnant. The tests are not 100% accurate. So wait and hope that your next period starts on time. If it does - you're in the clear - this time. If it doesn't start, wait until 5 days after your period was supposed to start and take the test again. If it is postive - you are probably pregnant.

Good luck.
