I realy enjoyed the WSIM get together. I botched it though, here's how...
I hunted Portage Lake (near Manistee) friday, and then drove down to LSC. I BS'd a little too late with some of you, and then got up late in the A.M. I guess I was over tired. I did not get put into a boat at the A.M. launch time. I don't think I was visible enough. I guess since I didn't know any of you, I should have been more outspoken about needing to be matched up. I was getting cold, so I went and sat in my car, and awoke about 8:30 to see no boats available to go out in. I thought some boats would come back in for stragglers, but I was wrong. I bs'd with some of you until about 10:00, and then went for a coffee. I came back, sat in my car and took a nap. I awoke at 11:45, and saw that there was no one left at the launch. One of the larger groups of guys was loading up to go to another spot, and I asked if I might join them, but they were full. So I take full responsibility for blowing my chance for an LSC layout shoot. I was too tired, and not loud enough. It looked like fun though, and from what I could see, alot of people were having a good time. I just wish I could have stayed for Sunday, but I had to be back home Saturday. So even though I drove a total of 8 hours, and slept mostly in my car, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Those of you who invited me to join the 'Fuge, I think I'll pass. I took the time to read some of the posts over there, and I'm not impressed. I saw first hand what a couple of people can do to advance a sport at the WSIM get together, and from what I read at the fuge, it's evidently populated by a bunch of self centered creeps. Not people I want to exchange thoughts with, nor waste any time even thinking about. It's too bad that people can get so self important that they can laugh at anothers near tragedy, and make fun of a persons sincere efort to make waterfowling a better understood and enjoyed sport.
The best part of all this is I don't even know any of you people. I'm just a guy who loves waterfowling and travels to do it. By the way, my dogs name is Belly.
