Tintally wandered absent mindedly through the yard, pausing every now and then to poke her nose into this pile of junk or that. She could scarcely believe how far she had come in her journey of discovery which had started when she left her families home in the suburbs. Now she was here in the junkyard, and finally she felt at home.

She paused for a moment by an old washer, looking up to the skies above. There in the blue hung the moon, full and bright on this special night of the Jellicle Ball. Suddenly she felt drawn by its forces, and began to climb, her deep brown eyes focused on the glowing orb above. Quickly she scaled the hight of the pile, coming to rest at the top, slightly out of breath, yet practically glowing with exhilaration.

Looking down onto the junkyard for the briefest of moments, her gaze was drawn once again to the sky. Still breathless she stared in wonder at the ceiling of the world, sewed with a million stars. She turned slowly, the moonlight bathing her creamy yellow coat and all of her surrounds with a pale blue light.

Suddenly she noticed something, swirled in a mysterious grey mist. It was an old mahogany rocking chair which swayed back and forth slightly in the light breeze. Slowly she approached it and with bated breath ran a slender paw over one of the arms. What was it that had drawn her here? She didn't know. She knew only that this was the intended destination. Cautiously, she climbed onto the chair and crouched half sitting, gazing on the jellicle moon. What happened next was something that Tintally was never to forget.

She heard a sound, almost like music. She closed her long lashed eyes in order to listen more keenly. And there it was. A melody like none she had ever heard. Gostly yet sweet it enfolded her within its weaving harmonies, and words came unbidden to her lips.

"Sunlight through the trees, it's summer,
endless masquerading..."

Her voice was barely above a whisper as the words issued forth, seeming to belong to another time or place. High and sweet she sang, her voice hanging on the breeze like the silvery stars which speckled the sky. Curiously, her voice split into two strands, harmonising with each other, creating a bright and haunting sound.

Tintally's lips curled into a smile as she realised her gift from the Everlasting Cat, her eyes shining brightly with tears. This, she realised was going to become a place she visited often.
