After Troubador had left to speak to Mirage, Jenna turned to Baskin.

"Baskin... let's stay here. This is the best place I know to raise our kittens." She looked into his eyes. "Would you be happy living here? I don't want to force you to stay."

Baskin looked back at her. "Of course I'll be happy here. You'll be here. If a place like this produced a queen like you, I wouldn't want to raise my kittens anywhere else."

Mirage finished his conversation with Troub and returned over to them. "Greetings and salutations you two once again." (umm what happened to Daien and Keilah? And I know I know wrong spelling but I never get it right)

[lol - my fault for naming her... I think they just stayed in the box with Silla.]

Baskin smiled at Jenna and squeezed her hand. "I'll be patient." Mirage arrived and he smiled in reply.

"Hello again, sir."

"You know as nice as the respect of that shows it still makes me feel old" he grinned. "I hope I'm not interupting" he said smiling
(You almost signed on then signed off lol)

"You're not intruding at all." Baskin replied, still holding Jenna's paw.

He smiled at them both. "Well you two should try and get to know some in the rest of the yard better. Don't want you being complete strangers and all."

Jenna grinned. "Like I'd ever be a complete stranger here. Well, I know all the cats I met while I was growing up... but I haven't met any of the recent arrivals."

Baskin didn't know anyone except Jenna's family.. and the few cats he met under the car that day, so he kept silent.

"Well I know they will love meeting you." He said tapping his tail then blinked "by the way Baskin are you skilled at fighting?"

He blinked... the question seemed a little unusual to him. "Yes..." He said slowly. "My father trained me when I was young and I had plenty of opportunity to hone my technique."

"Well upon your acceptance here would you perhapse be interested in becoming a guardian here?"

"A guardian? How do you mean?" Baskin asked. "It is a tom's duty to keep his mate safe from harm, is it not?"

"Of coarse that is your duty and I expect it so never hurt her unless you want me and her siblings to deal with." he teased. "Though a guardian or protector would be you look out for the entire yard. You would go on patrol, watch the jail, things of this sort."

Baskin blushed a little red at Mirage's first remark. "I assure you, sir. I would never dream of hurting Jenna-Lyn." He said adamantly. He had heard the stories of Tyler and assumed he was being judged based on these.

"As for protecting the Yard, I would be honoured to. I will help out here as much as I can."

"Well sounds good though I can't just make you a protector some of the others need to give their oppinion too but I bet you'd do fine. I'd test yoru fighting skills but Carbon would be better to do that."

He nodded. "I am ready, whenever it is time."

Baskin felt better now than he had in weeks. Ever since he had come to this place he was not sure if he could make a life here. Despite his assurances to Jenna, this place was very different from the place he grew up in.

He had been here for a little while, and soon his mate would have kittens... kittens that he hadn't even noticed she was pregnant with. He was still embarrased about being so surprised when she finally told everyone. It had showed then, too.

But now that he was here, settling in, with kittens on the way, he knew that he could make a life here.

He flipped his tail a little as he looekd at them. "Jenna? Would it not be wiser for you to begin resting some more and laying down? I am certain your mother would love to help in delivering your kitts."

She grinned at Mirage. "All right, I'll go visit Mom in the box... and I don't think I'd want to deliver the kittens without her."

She began walking back, then turned again and grinned mischeviously. "Do you two just want me to leave so you can talk man talk?"

He chuckled and shook his head "No not at all. as a matter of fact we will come with you. Well I will I won't make baskin do so." He said giving the other tom a bit of a ruffle on his head. "I just know it has been a long day and might be best we get in to the box."

Baskin tried to smooth his fur back down. He grinned at Mirage. "Wherever my mate goes, I go - remember?" He followed them back into the box.

Jenna smiled. "It won't be too long a wait." She said, her hand on the bulge that seemed to be getting bigger every day.
