BBC Metric confusion

BBC Radio 4 Today programme Saturday 22nd December the 8.a.m. weather forecaster gave a forecast of the depth of snow on the east of the country in millimetres and then said 'that's 2-4 inches for all you euro-sceptics out there.'
He was corrected by John Humphries who stated that you did not have to be a euro-sceptic to like inches and miles.

On Wednesday 26th December JC was investigating a murder. The gun, he said, had to have been fired some five metres away from the victim, which places the gunman 6-7 feet outside the window!
So BBC, JC not exactly PC!
