After total isolation in my hermitage for the past twelve months I havn't really been out into the 'real world.'
However, I ventured out to the sales and watched as the 'only educated in metric generation' grabbed reduced pairs of jeans 30 by 34, 28 by 30 and so on.
As they did not appear to be thin dwarves I assume therefore that they understand the imperial system.......and that the manufacturers know their customers, and not even any metric 'supplementary indication'in sight.
On this ocassion I did not see any Trading Standards and Police Officer snatch squads.
I bought my 'figure-hugging' jeans (I'm 36-24-36.......and I'm sure that there would not be a man in the land who's ears would prick up if I said 79-50-79) and left the shop.
