Go here....

http://search2.tradepartners.gov.uk/

click on "search our site"

then put in "imperial" as a search string and click find.

When the results come up do "rightclick" and open in a new window to read (saves time).

Makes you wonder what they are on about when they say only liberia and some other place don't use imperial - unless the countries that come up aren't "seen" as countries by the metric lobby.

makes interesting readin tho'

I looked at the site and tried both "Imperial" and "Metric".

I got 41 hits with the word "Imperial". I have reproduced a few results below:

Costa Rica:
Metric system is obligatory, but imperial system still often used.

United States:
Weights and measures - Imperial.

Mexico:
The metric system is compulsory; few Mexicans are familiar with the Imperial system.

Malaysia:
The metric system is used although the imperial system is understood and may still be occasionally found

Barbados:
The metric system has been adopted. Imperial weights and measures are also in common use.

Namibia:
Most of Namibia was the old German Imperial protectorate of South West Africa ...

Notice that apart from the US, most of the quotes using "Imperial" state that Imperial units may be used in certain circumstances, but metric is preferred.

I got 241 hits for the word "Metric". The first four entries that I examined were Japan, San Marinos, Solvenia, Taiwan. All four had the same use of the word "metric":

"Weights and Measures - metric".

There you have it - 1 pro Imperial comment, 40 apologies for using Imperial and 241 that are pro-metric.

It wasn't meant to be a competition, just something interesting for all of us.

But thanks to your response the metric side lose (overall) this time - arrogance means you, er, "lose".

If you want.
