Party Political Broadcast to help stop compulsory metrication

This is from the U.K. Independence Party website today.

I post this, naturally, just because of its relevance to the enforced metrication of Britain - see Kilroy-Silk's comments on 'the passing of laws that affect our lives in the UK':

ROBERT KILROY SILK

Dear Browser

You might have heard that I have joined the United Kingdom Independence Party and am standing as a candidate for the European Parliament in the elections on 10 June, representing the East Midlands Region.

I have always been committed to politics and was a Labour MP in Westminster from 1974 to 1986. I became an MP because I believed, and still do, that UK politics can and should be built around the principles of fairness, freedom and justice and that I could help achieve these things.

In 1975 I campaigned against the UK staying in the EEC - but I have always advocated good trading relations with all the countries of the world.

I now regard the threat of the EU as the most important political issue facing our country and whilst the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties are all split on the issue, the UK Independence Party is the only party to be united and consistent in its policy of wanting only elected politicians in Westminster to have the power to pass laws that affect our lives in the UK.

I will be using my experience as a TV presenter and columnist to present a way forward for the UK - outside the EU but on friendly terms with all the countries of Europe, whether they are in the EU or, like the wise and prosperous Swiss, Norwegians and Icelanders, outside the EU.

But I need your help. To get our message across I want to promote the UKIP "Say NO to the EU" poster campaign on all your cars, vans and trucks and everywhere else that our fellow countrymen can see them. I want to explain that we do not have to put up with Immigration being out of control; with 70% of our laws being made by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels and with British taxpayers having to pay a net 15 million each day to Brussels - money enough to build a new hospital each week.

Please help to save your country by browsing this website or by ringing FREEPHONE 0800 587 6587 for further information about our moderate policies.

Buy posters to display and stickers for your car; make a donation to our fighting fund or help with delivering campaign cards/leaflets in your area.

PLEASE BE PART OF THE CAMPAIGN TO SAVE BRITISH DEMOCRACY

Yours sincerely,

KILROY

As someone who's never really liked K.S. I have to say that his performance on Question Time last night was very impressive.

Possibly. He seemed a little rabid at times. But he was definitely the least pretentious of them (especially compared to a certain Labour mp who shall go unnamed). He certainly didn't get booed, and he certainly resisted all attempts to discredit him by the others. And of course his arugements were right.

We should not right Kilroy off as soem celeb-come-politician, as he WAS a labour mp for 12 years, as I recall, before going into television.

Also Steve, I used to love "Kilroy". Quite simply the best talk show that there has ever been. If say "Jerry Springer", I shall unleash Eric upon you. :D

I mean write, no right. And others. Damn typos. Sorry... we REALLY need an edit posts option here.

BWMA it is actually very cheap to set up an easy to administer forum with much more reliable software. Get in touch with phpbb or invisionboard. I will link you if you like.

Bryan, just type your posts into Microsoft Word or another word processor, run spell check and grammar check, and then copy-and-paste into the forums. It's not really a big deal, as long as you get your message across. These are only discussion boards.
