Was there a game on Saturday evening??????

Sorry Steve, but I need a reminder as to the score. I believe Wales might have kicked a late penalty but am not 100% sure. I'm sure you saw it live though!!!!!

Can you confirm that Wales won?????

:-) :-) :-)

And yes - Scotland were robbed!

I trust that anybody who wathced the match on TV noticed that whenever there was a computer-generated estimate of the difficulty of a free kick (angle between the cross-bars, length of kick etc), that the distance was given in metres.

That ruined the match for me.

Martin - I assume you turned the volume on your TV down so your enjoyment wasn't ruined then? ;-)

Berenger - Certainly. Happy to oblige. The score was 11 - 9. To Wales.
It should have been a drop goal though, at the end. Now **THAT** would have been poetic justice!

Bryan - No, I'm sure that if you look closely at the replay you will notice that England were rubbish. The fact that Wales didn't score more was a semi-miracle! :-)

And - for that - I shall call you "Barry".

There.

I did it.

NOW what are you going to do?

From classified advertisements, Wales on Sunday, 6th Feb 2005. (Well, advert would have been placed if I had stopped laughing long enough.....)

"MISSING, believed lost. One set of wheels to fit chariot (low, swinging type) Believed lost in area of Cardiff Castle/River Taff on Saturday evening. Telephone Twickenham 11-9 if found."

(I now dread the abuse I'm going to get after Scotland's visit to London.......)

Bryan, if you are (as you suggest) a "British" patriot, why are you unhappy that one part of "Britain" beat another, even going as far as to say that a part of "Britain" is rubbish?

Back on topic....

Steve/Martin
I heard the usual mix of metres/yards during the commentary. A lot of the metric indications were descriptions of pitch dimensions - (ie "kick from the 22" rather than mentions of the "25" - but John Inverdale (not sure of spelling) commentating on Sco v Fra tended to favour metric IMHO - even if you take out the references to pitch markings, it would have been around even.

And yes, they talked about Ally Hogg being millimetres out - not inches or fractions of an inch. Noone will ever convince me he was in touch under either system though!

Some people are either being facetious or don't get general fun-making when they see it... :P

Rugby fan carries out threat to cut off testicles after Wales win

A WELSH rugby fan cut off his own testicles to celebrate his team’s defeat of old enemy England in Cardiff on Saturday.

Geoff Huish, 26, was so convinced England would win the Six Nations opener that he told fellow drinkers at a social club, "If Wales win I’ll cut my balls off", it was reported yesterday.

Friends at the club in Caerphilly, south Wales, thought he was joking. But after the 11-9 victory over England, Huish went home, severed his testicles with a knife, and walked 200 metres back to the bar with the testicles to show the shocked drinkers what he had done.

Staff phoned the emergency services and put the testicles in a pint glass filled with ice cubes.

Huish, who has a history of mental problems, was taken to hospital where he remained in a seriously ill condition.

LOL!!!!!!

BTW Berenger - What on *EARTH* are you doing hanging around that past-it nutbag? Unless, as I believe I detected, there was an air of p--- taking going on? ;-)

As far as the other two visitors - LOL!

Ok, where to start.....

Martin - Sorry to be pedantic, but you can't kick for goal from a free kick in rugby - but the Welsh did kick a very, very long penalty late on
:-) :-) :-)

Bryan - "Some people are either being facetious or don't get general fun-making when they see it... :P"

You decide! I would only point out that it appeared in the jokey bit of my post, rather than the "serious" W&M bit.

Which "British" team are you supporting in the big match on 13th March by the way? The "rubbish" in red, or the "boys in blue", committed to repulsing the foreign attempt to invade our homeland (well at least the 70x15m space known as the "in goal" area at the end Scotland are defending)
:-p

Steve - Does cutting bollocks off after any Wales win extend to all Welshmen with surnames starting with "H" and mental problems (bad joke!!!!!)? Should I send K a "With Sympathy" card?????

And, seriously, would I take the piss out of our elderly friend..... I should really apologise again to Metre for using his posts to take yet another shot against TB.....

But, (and, of course, totally unrelated to any previous posts I have made about TB......) we all know that TB (consumption) is a nasty disease that deserves to be eradicated :-)

" after any Wales win extend to all Welshmen with surnames starting with "H" and mental problems "

A coincidence well spotted, my Kilted Kousin! But (thank the laaaaawd) I can confirm that I'm still all there. As to being mentally unfit, well that's another story. Well put it this way, I'm in the room next to "metre" (eric) although I'm going to be allowed out on Saturday to watch Italy get a pasting (I really hope that last bit won't end up haunting me).

" I should really apologise again to Metre for using his posts to take yet another shot against TB..... "

Yes, you "shooooould". However..... :-D :-D

As far as ribbing Mr TB is concerned - I believe your efforts might well be in vain. I suspect and predict that right now he'll be busy helping out a brand new organisation. No, not the Charles and Camilla Wedding Fund!

BTW- nil nil, or two - nil? Cryptic, but perhaps another pointy finger in the direction of a nation that's rather good at talking "balls" for the moment.

------------

Could this be the answer to my crypticism?

Nil nil - well nil nill is zero, zero or perhaps Oh Oh?
Oh oh, before two nothing?
"To nothing", perhaps?

Lets look at the rest - "pointy finger" - well what might a pointy finger do? Point downwards?

Downwards to what? Down to the Carribean perhaps, maybe a luxury holiday? Or perhaps down to the ground?

A nation of balls? What could that mean?

Balls are sometimes called "dances", as in "summer balls"

Dancing requires Singing - Name a good singer - Dusty Springfield?

So pointing down at Dusty Springfield while saying "oh oh" to nothing?

What is worth nothing? Rubbish is worth nothing.

Rubbish is commonly stored in a bin, something you point DOWN to!!

Oh no - You've won dusty bin!

(cue music)

Is this our Tony's new job???? (!)

http://www.surfaceonline.org/americanva1.html

Anthony Bennett completed a Bachelor of Visual Art at Queensland College of Art/Griffith University (96-99) with a double major in painting and sculpture. He works with photograffito, stolen kisses and cheap house paint and spent 2 years captive in Tokyo making manga porn in a cartoon sweatshop. In the last 12 months he has exhibited in New York, Washington, Sydney and Melbourne. He also completed a residency at Bundanon. Bennett has been a finalist in both the Conrad Jupiter’s Art Prize (2004) and the Schubert/Ulrick Photographic Awards (2003). His latest solo exhibition 'F**k Paris' [name of exhibition edited by me for obvious reasons!!!!] will be at Fox Galleries, Brisbane until the 3rd of December, 2004. His work can also be seen at www.anthonybennett.com

Thought the name of his exhibition was a bit of a give-away! After Saturday's events, I can agree with the sentiment though!

Stan

He puts himself about a bit doesn't he?

Don't forget his career as a geography teacher as well:

http://www.geography.learnontheinternet.co.uk/who.html

And then there's his spare time hobby as a baseball coach:

Not to mention his stirling work for the British Transport Police Federation:

what indications are there in any of your sites thst it might be "our" Tony......

At least "F*ck Paris" COULD be the product of a bigoted, racist, or slightly xenophobic (yet not our Tone's of course!!!!!!!) imagination!

At least we're still level on points with England & Italy so far! Might even be ahead of both of them after the next round of matches.

Wales v Ireland looks like it could be the deciding match this year.....
