The attractive white-and blue cast iron metal and enamelled fingerpost signs at Hooks Green, Lee Valley, which had 12 metric distances on them, now have British distances on them. Black adhesive exterior lettering (in Times New Roman) was used after the metric distances were carefully scraped away and cleaned up. At 3" high, they are twice the size of the previous metric lettering.
The two recently-discovered fingerpost signs at and near Broxbourne Station have been neatly demetrified tonight (with passing commuters too busy to pay much attention while the demetrification was in progress) and an order has now been placed with a signs manufacturer for attractive lettering in British distances. We may have the lettering ready for D-Day in the Lee Valley [Demetrication Day, 1 December)
