| 'Inchworm' from Monmouthshire reports that his letter to Newport Borough Council about four signs reading 'Caution - Lorries turning 200m ahead' - or similar - are now to be converted back to yards, according to a letter received by him today from the Council's Highways Engineer.

This is in addition to a sign in the 'bus station with the distance "15m", which was removed following a similar letter. (Newport, Mon. South Wales). |

...yes, some demetricated signs have been remetricated. Our total of 1,566 remains an accurate statement of signs known to have been demetricated up to yesterday.]

It'll soon be 1,760. Then we can celebrate the mile of demetrications! |

An ARM member from London called 'Furlong' has twice donated us a 'furlong' of pounds. For the record, a furlong of pounds buys us approx:
* 20 tubes of silicon mastic, or
* around 300 aluminium plates, or
* 12 1-litre [sorry!] tins of cellulose paint, or
* 200 or so 2 1/4" high reflective exterior-quality adhesive white numbers
