Council of Active Resistance to Metrication
The Council of Active Resistance to Metrication is pleased to announce that, as a result of their Managing Director reading material on this website about the activities of ARM, a major road signs manufacturer in the United Kingdom is saving all the off-cuts of their white adhesive reflective material, used for Department of Transport-approved highway signs, and donating them free of charge to ARM.
The Managing Director said: "You can use them to cover up all those illegal metric signs".
The Council of ARM is withholding the name of the company.
The Council of ARM would also like to acknowledge, with our grateful thanks, the kind donation of 'two furlongs of pounds' (i.e. £440) by Mr Mike Faith of south London, to help finance ARM's future programne of amending illegal metric road and footpath signs. This is one of a number of donations from him which has helped dozens of road and footpath signs in England and Wales to be converted into the distance units preferred by 90% of British people - miles, yards, feet and inches

Anybody who write trash like this has no understanding of measurements whatsoever. A furlong is a measurement of length, not a number and as such 'two furlongs of pounds' has no meaning whatsover (unless of couse the writer means 23,970 £1 coins in a row).

Martin - this is a man who donated 440 quid of his own money to the ARM! You would expect him to be a bit of an oddball.

martin - your opinion is sought.
when you say "Anybody who write trash like this has no understanding of measurements whatsoever" would you include in that someone who uses KiloEuros and MegaEuros as a measurement and has invented words not in any dictionary (like 'euroisation')?

'Two furlongs of pounds' - no meaning for martin, but much meaning for ARM's bank account

REPLY: Without giving too much away, MF has a major job in design and print, is entirely unconnected to the aforementioned signs manufacturer, has made a few bob, and joined ARM supporterss on their latest 'raid' in Lewisham to change illegal metric distances and heights into Imperial.
A successful 'oddball', then.
And, judging by the celebrations after the latest time a few signs were improved in Lewisham, one who certainly knows what a 'pint' is

I know two people who prefer imperial measures and are not keen on metric. Both of them (female actually) have about and seen the activities of ARM posted on the internet.
They were not impressed!

'oh well, whatever, nevermind' is just some of the lyrics to one of the best rock tracks ever to be cut to vinyl.
