This from a letter UKIP's 'Guard the Yard' campaign received in this morning's post in response to our letter of 14 June saying that any metric Traffic Signs still found on Essex roads after 28 June would be removed or obliterated:
"The Area Office at Colchester has been instructed to prioritise the amendment of the sign advising of a weak bridge 300 metres ahead" [see previous report on the anti-metric battle board].
The letter, from Vicky Duff, Essex County Council's Transport and Safety Officer, also requests: "If you receive any information concerning incorrect signing I would appreciate it if you could make this available to me in order that _immediate_ remedial action may be taken".
