Understood. I'm relieved that it's "just" a construction job and not some dire problem. Take all the time you need. I'll check back from time to time.
FWIW, I want you to know that my skepticism is not aimed at Bible Students, or any specific group. I've looked at a lot of different belief systems and am skeptical of all of them to one degree or another. Yes, I am skeptical of some of Pastor Russell's teachings. On the other hand, I generally agree with some of his teachings.
For example, I am convinced that God is not a "Trinity", and that the Holy Spirit is not a "person" but rather the power and essence of God.
Likewise, I am well aware that "hell" is not as mainstream Christianity has portrayed it. The wages of sin is death, not eternal life in torment. A loving God would not do such a horrible thing. Eternal life is the gift of God to those who love and obey Him. It is a blessing and not a curse.
On these matters I think we can agree, and perhaps on many others as well.
My initial comments were a knee jerk reaction to someone else's comments about 1874, nothing more. It was not my intention to single out you, or Pastor Russell, or Bible Students in general. It was just a reaction to comments about a doctrine which I strongly disagree with, and which also happens to be unique to Bible Students (as far as I know). I didn't expect any kind of response, as this board appeared to be more or less dead. It was a spur of the moment wisecrack - like anonymous graffiti on a seemingly forgotten wall. I didn't intend to cause offense, and I apologize if I did.
