Government U-Turn on enforce Metrication

All metric-only legislation has been repealed this morning, as announced by the Prime minister!!!
He's allowing people to be free to trade in imperial because [quote] "This is instinctively the British way - and we should not stifle freedom or coerce people just to say words that other's in the European Union do not use or like". Although Tesco had continued to use customer friendly units because that's what their customers wanted - now other chains will be relabelling their stock.

Oh dammit! It's past 12pm

Breaking news:
France and Britain sign bilateral agreement. Britain to phase out imperial measurement and replace it with metric, and France to phase out French language and replace it with English. Blair and Chirac issued a joint statement from a boat in the channel stating "This is truly a great day for both of our countries. We both give a little, and we both benefit immensely from the harmonization that results."

Oh dammit, that was last week. :)

The Queen has been doing various walkabouts in Paris - to coencide with the 100th anniversary of the "Entente Cordial".

Although they got rid of their royals many many years ago, the UK Queen was being treated like a major celebrity by Parisians, with more people trying to "get a glimpse of her" than trying to see their president. The seemingly spontaneous eruption of French folk desperately trying to get near the Queen has been received enthusiastically by Her Majesty.

No, as shocking as this might sound it is *NOT* and April fool prank.
