Sunderland Council

August 19 2001 at 6:39 PM

Sunderland Council have said they will ask other local authorities to make a contribution to the costs of an appeal in the Steve Thorburn case as it is a matter of general concern. A magistrate told me that this may not be legal. He said that a Council asked for financial assistance from other authorities over a poll tax case. This was challenged in court and declared illegal. Does anyone know this case or have any knowledge regarding the legality of Sunderland's proposed plan

My word, what a bunch of law-breakers Sunderland City Council are! First they install metric road signs, next they ask for funds from other local authorities over a poll tax case... Bet this will help them in court next week!
