Non-Profit letters to donors

HELP...I am familiar with QB but have just began a non-profit org. We receive donations from people and want to send them letters at year end stating how much they gave our org. TOTAL for the year, for their tax purposes. I do not see a way to do this with QB non-profit edition. I see the letters to donors and the one that says "thank you to donors" has a blank at the bottom of the letter, however it looks like I have to manually either type or write the amount they gave that year. That can't be possible. What am I missing? I know I can generate a report for myself listing all of my donors (customers) who gave and their grand total for a date range. How do I translate this data to a form letter I can send to them? Before I purchased this software, this was one of my main questions and the sales person assured me I could do this. Thanks!

with trying to get that type of report..it DOES NOT EXIST. very very dissapointed with Intuit...seems like they are getting greedy charging for these "customized programs" which in most cases are nothing more then QB PRO
