Any one out there that has purchased the SunBurst (Construction Application for Payment)? I am having numerous problems with the application although they report that QBooks exports to the program?

Have been using Sunburst for about a month. It can be a bit tricky but I have it working just fine. Maybe we can share some tips.

AIA Forms

Thanks for coming back Elizabeth. I have been so frustrated with this program. One of the biggest problems I'm having now is using a retainage fee of 10% for 5 previous invoices than switching to 0% retainage for the 6th invoice. (The current application for payment shows -0- retainage to date; it's dropping the previous retainage) *I selected variable retainage, edited the invoice to read 0%, selected - apply to this application only; but it is still dropping the previous retainage amounts. How do I get that previous retainage to show on the new form?

*Found this solution to pending change orders - if you want to show pending change orders on your forms and not bill against them; do the following: Import the invoice, select edit, change the status column to "future" and it will apply it correctly.

Thanks again

The most important part of the process is the progress invoice you are importing from QuickBooks. If the AIA form is not showing the correct current period billing amounts and retainage it is because there is similar problem on your QuickBooks invoice. (Ex. For pending change orders - that is you don't want to bill against them - don't have a billing amount for that item on your invoice)

And believe the instructions when they say Never do something - you could end up having to delete all AIA forms and reimporting from the beginning.

If you imported an invoice and it is incorrect, delete it in Sunburst, go back to Quickbooks and fix the invoice then reimport.

As to the retainage - I pulled my hair out over that one too. You may want to check to see what the retainage entries are on your quickbooks invoices and see if they were 'billed' or 'reversed' and you didn't notice. Or Sunburst may be thinking that you are invoicing for past retainage. Double check the math in the AIA form and see where the totals are at.

Sunburst had a maintenance release a few weeks ago - be sure you got that. And Sunburst has been real helpful if you need to call them.
