I AM CURRENTLY RUNNING QUICKBOOKS PRO99 AND MY ACCOUNTANT HAS PROBLEMS DOWNLOADING MY BACKUPS EVERY TIME HE USES IT. I PURCHASED IT FROM A LOCAL NATIONAL WHOLESALE CLUB AND FOUND OUT THERE WERE (2)VERSIONS OF '99 OUT THERE. I AM READY TO UPGRADE AND RECENTLY PURCHASED "2004" EDITION. ARE THE VERSIONS SOLD TO THESE WHOLESALE CLUBS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONES SOLD TO OTHER OFFICE SUPPLY STORES? I AM RELUCTANT TO OPEN THIS PRODUCT FOR FEAR I WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
ALSO, HAS ANYONE STARTED USING "2004" AND HOW DO YOU LIKE IT?
You don't really say exactly what problems your accountant is having with your backups so we can't help you with that. Before you upgrade though, go to File, Utilities, and Verify your data file. Any problems you have with a file WILL NOT go away by upgrading the file. They will still be there and sometimes get worse. You need to close all windows in the program to access the Utilities menu.
As for version 2004, I think it's the best version that's been released since QB99. I'm very pleased with the improvements. I actively run all releases since 6.0 on my computer now and this one is very good.
Yes, there are two versions of QB Pro - the Basic version and the Pro Version. You can see which one you have by opening your Qb program and then pressing the F2 button on your keyboard. The first line shows the Product version and which upgrade you have installed. To open your file your accountant not only has to have the same version, but also has to have the same update installed as you do. They must match or he will not be able to open it. If he opens your file in a newer version it will convert it to the newer version and you will not be able to use it again on your old version.
