How does Quickbooks PoS 3.0 Basic work for restaurants?

One of my clients owns a small restaurant and would like an entry-level PoS. He is planning on expanding to multiple locations within the next year but has no real experience with PoS systems relative to running a restaurant. I want to recommend that he goes with the Basic version of your software to start.
One question I have not been able to answer for him, however, is how the software handles the custom-order nature of his restaurant. For instance, if a customer chooses to leave the pickles off of their hamburger and he wants to track those intricacies, can the software handle it in an easy and straight-forward fashion?

QuickBooks is not designed for the application you are asking about. It is designed for retail that has inventory to track. You can go to the Intuit Marketing website and look at "add-ons". I have seen a couple of restaurant-type POS's there that will integrate with the financial software.
Sorry to tell you this, but I feel I am saving you a headache.
Good luck,

This was an interesting question about the QB and restuarant application.
I have the same issue , I bought the software QB POS and equipment from Dell, Now I need to utalize it in my industry (Dry cleaning and Laundry) but I can not.
Can you give me some suggestion(s).
Second, Can I use the MSR (CREDIT CARD READRER) directly through my business bank , if so do I need the code from you to activate it.
Please advise.
Thanks
