We're an exporting company and we're looking into buying the Manufacturing & Wholesale edition of QuickBooks, but had a few questions before proceeding that I was hoping someone on these boards could answer.
First, here's our basic business flow: Our transactions begin with a quote (or estimate) which usually involve parts/items from several vendors. Once we receive confirmation of the quote, then we generate PO's for all the vendors and subsequently invoice the customer. We also have a database of part numbers that ranges in the thousands.
So, here are my questions:
1) Will QuickBooks provide the functionality that I've described above? If so, do I need a special version or will the Pro version suffice?
2) We do need a fair amount of pricing control, but unlike most business where the pricing control is customer based, we need to have pricing control on the vendor based. For example, we add 10% to all items that we sell from Vendor A and add 15% to all items we sell from Vendor B. This is very important, and I'm wondering if there is an easy way to accomplish within QB.
First the item linit in QB is 14,000. Once used it cannot be deletd [unless all transactions that use it are deleted].
Second: QB cannot do automatic markup of items, You would need to have item from each vendor and then edit the item with the currect sale price.
