i am trying to set up a customized report to report income specific to the operating checking account - i can not find a way to report only chart of account activity specific to one specific bank account as opposed to all of them - does anyone have any ideas? thanks! t:)

You can open up the Balance Sheet, double-click on the checking account you want to see. It will show debits & credits. You can modify the transaction report to suit your needs.
