Scenario: I bought a new computer yesterday. Tried to install QB2003 and kept getting the error File Missing Ikernal.exe (0x10000). I was on the phone with tech support for over an hour trying to solve this problem-to no avail. I've downloaded the ikernal.exe fix from install shield, but it doesn't work.
I got my backup out from the old computer and copied all of my QB files. Tried to open it, but it gives me the error missing file Inetclnt.dll. Does anyone have any ideas? I can't install from the original disk. Even tech support can't seem to help.
Try downloading..INetClnt.DLL (www.dll-files.com)its a windows security setup file..will not allow you..to install..and uninstall..QUICKBOOKS SOFTWARE//so try installing..this file in the file in the location from where..error generated...///THIS WILL ALSO NOT ALLOW YOU INSTALL//UNINSTALL..QUICKBOOKS IF THIS FILE IS ON SHARED BASED..
and then try installing... quickbooks in safe mode...make sure all other security ..software...

My computer suddenly developed the same problem with "missing inetclnt.dll" with QBPro 2002 and I wasn't trying to rinstall or do anything other than open it.

I downloaded a patch utility from Quicken that solved the problem. It does this -
"The INETFIX.exe file has placed an INETCLNT.dll, a FIDIR.txt, and an INDEX.ini file in their corresponding folders on your computer."
The original problem reported doesn't make it obvious that it addresses a missing InetClnt.dll, but it does solve that problem. I did a quick smoke test in Quicken 2003 Deluxe and everything looks fine.
I still don't know why the InetClnt.dll went missing.
Here's the link to the page on the Quicken website where you can download the software "patch." It has the original problem requiring the fix.
