As part of the clubs ambition to move back to the town, why is it not possible to just get a reserves side off the ground playing in the town somewhere, Runcorn Town play there reserve team in West Cheshire League Division 3 can this be explored maybe for the new season up coming in August, to forge even better links with Runcorn Town, why not use Pavilions for games or even Runcorn Boys Club on Boston Ave, it might seem to be another added cost to people, and be laughed off by people, but there has got to be something happening in the town regarding the Linnets otherwise the stagnation we are seeing at present with the thought of another 3/5 years at Witton is not one that the club can afford to happen, there is enough time to try and get it implemented, it gives the Linnets a foothold back in the town, and gathers what is im my honest opinion something that is lacking....INTEREST in the club in the town itself, if people think there is interest i sadly think they are mistaken, there is interest when the guys are going round doing the Tote on Friday granted,(2 venues that also sponsor the mascots), apart from that, what else do we have, decent sponsors in the town doing the shirt sponsorship, and a few pre season bits of cash we pick up for programmes ads, but the rest of the town, (the newtown in particular, couldn't give a stuff for the Linnets).
Progress has got to be made and a reserve side will give the people of the town an indication that there is a will to get the club back to Runcorn, also a reserve side helps the manager no end in lots of ways, especially when players are coming back from injury, if there is monies need raising to get this venture off the ground initially lets do it, lets get the thing off the ground, and get some kind of Runcorn Linnets team playing in the town, even if its just a reserve side to begin with. | |
