Response to Linnets identity crisis

Back to the initial reason for this thread - Runcorn Linnets in identity theft as match reports are referring to the team as Runcorn. I noticed on Town's website they appear equally confused about who they are!!
In the article about James Mcshane being named player of the month ( congrats on the award) it refers to him scoring two and being MOM against Brighouse Town in Runcorn's first ever FA Cup match!!!
I'm no historian of Runcorn football but the first ever FA Cup match played by 'Runcorn' must have been in the 1920's or 30's as I know they played Preston in 1939.

Can you tell me is neither club allowed to just be Runcorn? or do you expect Runcorn Linnets or Runcorn Town in every report/article?

Seriously though both teams are entitled to called themselves Runcorn as sometimes the full name is just to long and I can only assume the original poster has been waiting for something to criticise Linnets about and its a shame we've had to go back to an old topic rather than praising both teams on their excellent start to the season.
