Response to Linnets identity crisis

Charting the serial decline of Runcorn football

1970's:
over 6,000 watch Runcorn FC beat then league side Southport at Canal St in the FA Cup with Barry Whitbread's header settling it

Over 5,000 watch Chester triumph at Canal St in the same competition

1980's:

Average crowd of above 1,000 watch Runcorn win the Alliance and be crowned kings of non-league football at the first time of asking...more than 1500 for the Alty and Enfield games

1990's

Less than 3,000 fans make the trip to Wembley despite making it twice in two seasons

2000's

Less than 120 watch the death of Runcorn FC

The previous poster said it. Runcorn doesn't give a **** about its teams. Half the Linnets Board don't live in the Town FFS!! Good on them for travelling to watch footy at this level

IS IT ALL GLOOM?

NO................

Two teams are succeeding DESPITE the apathy of the local population

THAT IS REASON TO CELEBRATE
