The problem with that Biggy, is that they havent used that act of punishment for the same crime in the past.
What they have done here, is invented a complete new set of rules after an event, which dont correspond with the same previous offence.

To say that Rammy may have won the game had that player of not played isnt an issue.
On the same hand, you could say, had another player have played that night instead, then Bootle would have won the game.
Its not like the player who played was Messi or Ronaldo and he scored 3 goals in the game; he was a regular Bootle player who was actually suspended for the game. However due to some oversight and mix up in paperwork, he happened to play.
Perhaps the league need a system in place where the referee has a list of suspended players and when the team sheets are submitted checks to see if all players are eligable. The current system relies on paperwork being sent out in the post.
At other levels, we all know who is suspended and what suspension they have.
