Good luck to Runcorn TownFebruary 12 2008 at 12:14 PM | Tufty |
| - Good to see them aiming for a higher level and applying for the NWCL.
Assessing their set up against other facilities in the NWCL, they are on comparable terms with quite a few facilities, just they need a few odd upgrades such as seats.
Their support base in Runcorn is pretty decent, although not sure how gates will be effected by a small admission fee. With many teams competing on gates of 50, they surely will be able to match that.
The move to NWCL can also act as a push for Runcorn Fc in their bid for promotion and a return to Runcorn.
A great move for the Town of Runcorn who can only benefit from having another club at a higher level. |

| Runcorn Linnets will object | February 12 2008, 4:55 PM |
What is the betting that Runcorn Linnets object to this application?
We can all see that Runcorn Towns plans and ambition is more than that of Runcorn Linnets.
Runcorn Town already have a base in Runcorn, both on the field and socially, Runcorn Linnets FC do not have this.
Runcorn Town have established community ties, a youth and reserve team and are regarded amongst up and coming youth players in the Town and surrounding areas.
Runcorn Town and Runcorn Linnets will both be competing for the same grants, sponsors and funding and Runcorn Towns position puts them miles ahead of Witton based Runcorn FC on this matter.
Yes, Runcorn Towns proposal is a superb step for football within Runcorn and sport within the town, but I bet the committee at Runcorn Linnets wont like the competition from an already established Runcorn team. This proposal could see Runcorn Town overtake Runcorn Linnets in the league standings. |

I personally think RTFC in the NWCL would be a bonus to both teams and the town just think of a boxing day or new years day fixture with Towns 50/75 fans and the Linnets 150/200 fans and another 100/150 people after a beer and a game of football , bonus all round. Maybe even a league cup fixture or an early FA Vase tie. This would benefit both teams | |
