Can anyone explain why the Ground Fund is being launched at the Sportsmans dinner?
It would make more sense to do this at an open meeting, so all people can attend without having to cough up for a sportsmans dinner.
It would also generate more publicity this way and could even be attended by councillors etc.
I agree that it is 12 months to late, it should have be done shortly after the team played its first game. Over this season, results have been poor, nothing has been done to attract more fans along, publicity is poor and gates have dropped off.
Thats in the past, so lets forget that and see what can be built on.
The sportsnmans dinner is not the place to launch the Ground fund.
Its an event where people have to pay £25 to attend and all tables for the event arent even sold.
A seperate meeting/launch event is needed, perhaps run in conjunction with some fun day or open day, with the players and manager present.
All local press should be in attendance.
PR is the key to getting awareness amongst the people of Runcorn.
Currently there is little interest in the team, the club has never played a game in Runcorn and is now in competition with Runcorn based Runcorn Town who do a much better job than the Linnets with regards to work in Runcorn, keeping interest in Runcorn and a good pR job. Its no good going on about Runcorn past name and being a bigger club than Runcorn Town, as the gap is now minimal.
The events to raise money for the ground fund also need to be realistic.
I did suggest on the official forum that a pathway leading to the ground could be built out of bricks, with people buying a brick with their name on it for £50, this would give a profit and also act as a lasting tribute to those people who bought a brick.
Its no good simply asking for money in buckets all the time, some thought and effort needs to go into schemes. Using the Tote money was a good start.
A visual Blue Peter style totaliser should also be erected in the town, for people to see how far off target the club is.
Here we go again. The Linnets try and do something and all the pathetic little tossers who contribute absolutely fuck all sit on this shit little forum and whinge. Nobody at all gives a flying fuck what anyone on this crap site thinks. If you have something to contribute then do it. Suggesting it on the club forum will not get anything done. Those that want to get off their arses and do something will be seen at games, at meetings and Sportsmans Dinners and on committees etc. Those that don't will sat at home and contribute to this pathetic little meeting place for all the sad and stupid twats that are full of ideas and fuck all else.
If the Linnets signed Ronaldo everyone on here would be moaning how we should have gone for Rooney instead.
FOR FUCKS SAKE CLOSE THIS FORUM DOWN. It is demeaning to Runcorn as a town and a Runcorn as a place of football. Clubs from other towns laugh at this site. It is an embarrassment to the Linnets, Runcorn Town, Halton FC, Runcorn Albion and anyone else that is trying to progress sport at any level at all in this town.
Moaning on what is essentially a waste of disk space will get nothing done. This site should be consigned to 1995 where it belongs along with the rest of bad history that people are trying to move on from.
I wont put my name, as Im scared of you knowing wh

what the new board and the proper volunteers i.e actually do something on matchdays have achieved is exceptional.these people deserve all the credit,i agree this page should be demolished as all it is doing is letting small minded people who think they support runcorn embarrass it and all it stands for.obviously the board are doing the right things as 2 years ago the club had no money no players and no ground, yet in the 1st year they win the league compete at the stronger level in the next league and do ok.they have changed manager and hopefully he can win the league next year and have a ground in progress while still competing at a high level of north west counties.people must be happy with the progress that these people have made in 2 years.congratulations and good luck for your future progress
Ha ha.
Half the reason that the club had no money and no ground, was that these so-called voluntears backed the Doc and his cronies to the hilt, ignoring all concerns about playing in Widnes, Prescott etc.
Happy to go along, as it was the only fulfillment they had in their life, happy to ignore the real problems.
Its all well and good standing up at Runcorn FIRST meetings about saving the club, but then attending the free trial game in Widnes was in contrast to what was being preeched.
It took them far to long to wake up to what the reality was.
In truth, if half of this effort was done whilst at Canal Street, then the club would stil be there. Most these people never supported events at the social club, helped out at the ground or done anything to fight The Doc and his move. Infact certain people were only to happy to jump into bed with the Doc at Widnes, as it looked good on their CV's.
CV's > Runcorn FC.
Yes they are now moving in the right direction, setting up a new club was the biggest step, but its no good donating an organ if your continual pushing of alchol and cigarettes killed the organ in the first place.
The club didnt win the league, it got promoted, which was required, however, given the budget and resources it should have won the league.
This season is a complete failure on the pitch, the budget and resources again are enough to win the league, but the clubs nearer relegation. Yes, the management has been addressed and results will have to count from day one next August.
Little is done to attract new people or more people through the gates, the same failings that helped towards the clubs demise at Canal Street.
Happy for the same 180 to turn up each week, rather than encouraging more.
Many a person in Runcorn has stayed away from following the club during its Canal Street days, as its image was never the best.
Having a ground in progress and a ground plan on paper are different things.
The Doc drew up plans for a new stadium during the 1st year in the Unibond.
The same plans and aims were set then for funding this ground, yet it never materialised and that was with the asset of Canal Street behind it.
But its a sign of progress.
I have no interest in watching any games at Witton, supporting a team that has no links with Runcorn other than an adopted name. I've been a few games, but it was novelty, the reality soon kicked in that it wasnt the same club or the same experince, I dont need it to fill a void in my life, as many others who no longer attend have found.
Once the team is playing in Runcorn, my interest will increase and I will support events that will fund its return. Its a long way off that first peice of turf being cut for the ground and even longer before the fist click on the turnstyle and first game is kicking off there.
Some people dont see the reality, they think any 2nd rate excuse is acceptable, dont see progress and dont see the outside world. Living a life that woudlnt be out of place in Royston Vasey. The same people who helped the club drift over to widnes, as they were scared of the void in their life it would create, so its easy to acept rather than challenge.
Unfortunately, to many of these people have a place on the current board and its already hit the clubs progress.
It might be all well and good in your sad life, happy to sing the praise of what they have, but a bit of reality and a bit of positive criticism can only result in a positive future.
I find this site very interesting, the views expressed are critical and ruffle a few feathers. The points made a mostly positive.
I think TUFTY has a lot to offer, as a supporter of Runcorn Town i would like to see him attend some of their games. Perhaps the Pyke Cup final on Good Friday at Vauxhalls 11am KO would be a start.
It is obvious to me that Runcorn Town are building a nice little ground that the FA have recognised but they need help.
SO IF YOU WANT TO PUSH A RUNCORN TEAM FORWARD CONTACT THE CLUB VIA THEIR WEBSITE.
This site offers quite a constructive and reasonable debate, what people from the club and club officials dont like, is that this site posts the fans views.
The official site does not allow for any form of criticism or anything they consider to be in the negative. The official site has about 10 main posters on it, not very indicative of the clubs fans base.
What you have to do with criticism on here, is ignore the negative parts of the posts and act on the constructive ideas presented.
The way the club is run, the way it progresses and its PR is not as good as some club officials would like to point out.
The Ground Fund is a key sheme for the future of the club and in order for people to be aware of the clubs intentions, it needs a BIG PR launch, that will not occur at a £25 per tickt event. Whats wrong with a free open meeting?
10 Of DYPAMS finest get together and buy a table at the Sportsmans Dinner?
PS: Have you ever thought that there maybe just someone in attendance at the Sports Dinner who the club may want to target with regards to influence/finance etc... maybe a local businessman for example(Just A Thought- Captive Audience And All That)
I do agree though that there is no reason why the club could not hold another launch day on a more Public scale rather then at a Private Function, this may happen who is to say, just watch this space and support the club in any little way you can.
I have publically and privately criticised the club and certain board members however I still do my bit, doing nothing but having an angry little rant on here, does NOTHING!
So my challenge is this, 10 DYPAMERS get together and purchase a table, you state that there are still some tables available, so why not?
