You see all these clubs and their promotions, but what do you get at Runcorn?

I'll tell you what you get at Runcorn Linnets, Tufty.

The chance to watch a local non-league side - that's it. There are two groups of people. Those who choose to go and those who choose not to. No offer in the world is going to change that. You either want to support or you don't. You either contribute to the running of the club and the ground fund - or you bleat away on here about how badly everything is going, how badly it is run etc etc ad infinitum. It's not the Premier League, it's a group of fans trying to run a local non-league side. If you don't think it's very good, why do you keep going on about it? Where were you tonight? At the match supporting the club, or posting on forums about how bad a job everyone's doing and how you could do so much better.

I bet you're first through the turnstiles when the new ground opens.

Again, another gutless pratt who wont put his/her name to posts.

For info, I didnt even know there was a game last night, another case of piss poor PR.

The attitude of "There are two groups of people" is exactly what we have come to expect from a piss poor organisation that would rather tax the few fans it does get, than encourage and attract new ones.
The same attitude that cost the old board.
You only have to look at the clubs biggest ever gate, something that was done with decent PR and promotions for schools.
You only have to look around the various levels of football to see that other clubs put time and effort into promoting their clubs.

"A local non-league side" - well I suppose what you class as local and where you live.
Local to the people of Runcorn would be Runcorn Town.

I might be one of the first through the turnstiles at a new ground, whats wrong with that? Or will it be a case of regular fans looking down thweir noses at any new comer with the "where were you at Wincham Park" attitude? What you have to remember, its sheep like you who followed the club to Widnes and Prescott who got the club into such a mess. A bigger stance at Canal Street and more opposition and the club might have had a chance. I fail to see many of the current board who wanted to help back then or speak up (Derek Greenwood aside).

As for the new ground, most of you seem to live in the Field of Dreams mentality - "If you build it, they will come", but it will take a lot more PR than that, but i suppose your time will be spent slapping each others backs and congratulating each other on the new ground, rather than putting efffort into attracting fans along.

Quote “Again, another gutless pratt who wont put his/her name to posts.”

- There is no point putting a name on an unsolicited board like this, and to prove it I will make this post under your name so everyone think’s you posted it. How do we know what is genuine and what is not on here?

Quote “For info, I didn't even know there was a game last night, another case of piss poor PR.”

- It’s been on the front page of the website for weeks, don’t you look there now because you are banned from the forum? For someone who deems to have a good knowledge of non-league football, to not know there are games on is poor. Too busy checking out the offers on Huddersfield Towns site? How can you expect people to take your opinions on Runcorn Linnets seriously when you don’t even know when they play?

Quote – “The attitude of "There are two groups of people" is exactly what we have come to expect from a piss poor organisation … etc”

- BIT IT IS TRUE! – those that act, and those that talk (and type) at length.

Quote “ "A local non-league side" - well I suppose what you class as local and where you live.
Local to the people of Runcorn would be Runcorn Town.”

- Local as in Runcorn, the Linnets, playing in Yellow and Green, the team you and I have all supported all these years. Will the club be local enough for you at Riverside College?

Quote “I might be one of the first through the turnstiles at a new ground, what's wrong with that?”

- There’s nothing wrong with it. It would be great. Why not come and help now and make it happen a bit quicker. You obviously care, why not get involved and show it?

Quote “A bigger stance at Canal Street and more opposition and the club might have had a chance. I fail to see many of the current board who wanted to help back then or speak up (Derek Greenwood aside).”

- It’s gone. Look to the future. We are never going back to Canal Street.

Quote “As for the new ground, most of you seem to live in the Field of Dreams mentality - "If you build it, they will come", but it will take a lot more PR than that, but i suppose your time will be spent slapping each others backs and congratulating each other on the new ground, rather than putting efffort into attracting fans along.”

- Building the ground is the best chance the club has of attracting new fans. We are not going to get many new fans at Witton. So unfortunately the few that do attend will have to raise the money, build the ground and take it from there. Then (after a celebratory beer or two) we will have to attract new fans to Runcorn Linnets. And if it doesn’t come off, at least I can say “I tried”, which is more than you did.

£100 season ticket at Huddersfield

April 17 2008, 6:26 PM

As said previously, actions not words.
So I just called Huddersfield box office, they still have the £100 offer for a season ticket. But when I asked for a Runcorn Linnets season ticket, the lady must of thought I had gone mad. For anyone else, remember you actually have to watch that team, not your own team.
I was gonna call MUFC next, if they had the same offer, but the words "organic" and "vital" spring to mind again.

We are not going to get many new fans at Witton if we do nothing to encourage new fans.
Todays school kids are tomorrows fully paying adults.
Get them on board now for free and come the time the new stadium is built in Runcorn they will be paying adults with their own kids.
Thats when you see the financial benefit.
How many of todays paying adults got dragged to games at Canal Street as a kid? Quite a lot I would say.
Its cheaper for me and my lad to go and watch Tranmere than it is to go to Witton to watch Runcorn.
