Open trials - a waste of time

Whats the point in running the open trials sessions? Nothing has come of the previous ones. The format doesnt allow for any player to shine and basically they attract nothing other than piss poor teenagers who arent even Sunday league standard.
The previous format and trials done nothing to asess fitness or personl strength and pitted trialists against each other, rather than a recognised standard.

Surely the management team has identified players, has the ability to attract players and is looking for experience?

I thought the club had ambitions of promotion, not picking up Sunday league kids and hoping to survive relegation.

Wouldnt it be better to seek players of the relevant experience for the league and above?

More harm than good is likely to come out of these open trials.
