Season tickets

Why not run various schemes to give tickets a special promotion or Unique Selling Point?
A decent scheme will generate much needed PR.
Or is it simply a case of selling them to the usual suspects this season, then hoping to build the fanbase next year?
If marketed properly, the free tickets for kids could be a winner.

£5 per shirt

June 30 2009, 10:23 AM

I did mention last season that I could source replica shirts for approx £5 per shirt (The removal of the Manufacturers logo would stop any copyright issues), as I have a contact in the far East who would manufacture them. All it involved was sending an original shirt over to them. This would have allowed the club to sell shirts for £10 or £15 and make a bigger profit on them and increase sales due to the price being low.
Yet people such as Paul Ramsden never once approached myself over this.

You could actually get Runcorn replicas made yourself if you wished.

See this site for examples of cheap shirts. If you buy one, you wont be able to tell the difference between this and a genuine shirt. You can get an Everton/Utd/Liverpool shirt for £8 plus £6 delivery. Cheaper if you buy a couple or club together with mates to buy.

Its not as simple as buying a shrit.

Ok so the plain shirt is £10, it then costs between £90-£120 to get the sponsor printed on 18 shirts, plus about £4 per shirt for the club badge to be put on it.

It probably costs around £18-£20 to buy a fully complete shirt, then the club makes £10, whats wrong with that? What is the point in them selling replicas if they cant make any money, the club sells lots of replica shirts making it a good source of income.

Its not all about profit.
Whats better selling 10 shirts with a profit margin of £10 or selling 20 shirts with a profit margin of £5?
They both equate to the same profit, but you have sold another 10 shirts, which in turn means 10 more people wearing your shirt and greater awareness of both the club and the sponsors who pay to have their name paraded around on walking advertisement boards.
You also benefit from greater economies of scale and bargaining powers from selling more shirts. Cost of stiching and printing is reduced if you buy more, cost of purchase of shirts is reduced if you order more.

In truth though, the same people will buy the shirts no matter what the cost.
The club will sell to the same people most seasons, its not like they are hanging on the peg in JJB for people to purchase.
You adult replica shirt wearer is usually someone on a lower income, who cares little for appearance and considers the item a socially acceptable fashion item. Given the colour scheme of the Linnets shirts, they are not exactly the best colours to match with a pair of jeans, one of the reasons that the England National Team now where a white Polo shirt!
