Atherton LR v Runcorn Town in the FA Vase.... Date Change

Details have been agreed today between Atherton LR and Runcorn Town over the forthcoming match in the First Round of the FA Carlsberg Vase.

The game will take place at Crilly Park on Friday 1st October, kick off 8.00pm. The change of date has come about because Leigh Genesis, who groundshare with LR, have been drawn at home to Garforth in the FA Trophy on the same weekend.

Atherton have been kind enough to reduce admission prices for the game which could attract a large crowd as it is the only Vase game played in the region on the night. Admission will be £4.00 for Adults and £2.00 for Concessions.

Extra time will be played if scores are level after 90 minutes, and if the teams still can't be separated, a replay will take place at Pavilions on Tuesday 5th October, kick off 7.45pm. Admission prices will remain the same as above in case of a replay.

Given a Friday night or a Sunday afternoon, then a Sunday afternoon wins hands down, especially if trying to get a bigger gate.
What with people having to get home from work (Not to mention the players), Friday being a night people go out and potentailly kids bieng in bed earlier.

We were offered the Friday night or the Sunday afternoon. We chose Friday.

Tufty does make some valid points but Friday was a better option. Reasons being that Leigh are playing on the same pitch on the Saturday afternoon, so if it is raining, they will have little chance to do anything with it before we played on the Sunday (and Town do like to get it down and play some football!). The Sunday game also clashes with Man City v Newcastle AND Chelsea v Arsenal on the TV that day and Liverpool are also playing too.

By having it on the Friday we will get on the pitch before the Leigh game which will make a difference, plus the game clashes with nothing on the TV nor any other games locally, which may attract a better crowd on the night.
