| Lost again, If Town win their two games in hand they will be joint top outright. Town genuinely could win The league this year. |

They'll need to win them handsomely. Look at Rammy's GD!
This will be about who holds their nerve at the business end as opposed to who's the best side |

Out of all the top sides town look the weakest but they are certainly the most functional. This has been the best season yet for a team to win the league as its the first time in about 6 years there hasn't been a run away leader.
I could never have imagined Town would be up there, with a genuine shot at the title its remarkable. |

Between 3 clubs now. Town, Barnoldswick and Ramsbottom.
It's a pity it one club goes up, as makes it a hard league to get out of.
Town have the harder run in.
Linnets away and Barnoldswick away are their must win games. |

towns run home.
SILSDEN H
Alsager a
Stone D a
BACUP B H
M.ROAD H
R.Linnetsa
FLIXTON H
Ashton a
Barnoldswick a tuesday 24th.
BLACKPOOLH.
Out of them you look at them realisticaly and think only linnets away in the return derby and barnoldswick away will trouble town with a maybe at alsager.
ramsbottom run home.
Barnoldswick 27th March. A
Congleton 31st a
BOOTLE 3rd April H
STONE D 7th H
Bacup B 9th a
ST HELENS 14th H
Ashton 21st a
WINSFORD 28TH H.
add into that if ramsbottom win their league cup quarter final tie at home against norton this saturday a two legged league cup semi final which could possibly be against bottle if they can beat maine road in their replay also this saturday.barnoldswick away for ramsbottom will be a huge match up which can go either way when you think about it and congleton away will be no picnic for them, and of course bottle at home will be also very tough for them and bacup could be tricky also.i know im a town fan and im thinking yes its possible for us but hey why not.id put barnoldswicks up for you but theirs is too compicated with all the games in hand they have to fit in plus possible cup semi finals also. |

With Rammy and Town sailing through their games unharmed so far, we are about to enter a huge 7 days for both teams.
Rammy play their last ( on paper ) difficult game on Tuesday against Bootle who hardly ever lose a game, and Town have one of their two difficult games next Monday.
If Town beat Bacup tomorrow, which they should because Bacup must be knackered, seems like they are playing every day at the minute, then they could go top and gain a pshycological advantage, but if Rammy win on Tuesday then I feel that they will hold the upper hand as they will have safely navigated their three most tricky games with Town still having to play Linnets and Barnoldswick.

you right biggy.i think ramsbottom's difficult games to come are at home bottle and i think away at bacup wont be a picnic but you right bacup are playing what seems like a never ending marathon for them so they will be tired no doubt about that.they come to town tomorrow.its must win.town are 3 goals down on ramsbottom and can go top on monday night if they win by anything score over 3-0,then ramsbottom face bottle following night so that could be a huge turning point in the tittle race.town then got maine road at home which is on paper another win ramsbottom have got stone at home so they will win that one also.which then means all roads led to the return derby at millbank.it will be on all on there for town and linnets ...and ramsbottom.im hoping town can win it by 2 points with bottle doing us a favour and gaining a draw.if ramsbottom beat bottle then it will go on goal difference and im also hoping in that we beat linnets in return derby but i know that one can go either way.and by the way i know this didnt involve you directly but i am not bitter at linnets.i had a few problems with a few board members i never had problems with the players or the management i wanted linnets be sucessfull cause it would be fantastic for local football and gives us all something to be proud about.2 competitive teams going at it at the top end of the table and two very interesting competitive derby matches. |

Momentum is crucial (NFL fans saw the New York Giants win the superbowl this year with it). Both Town and Ramsbottom are finishing with the proverbial "wet sail" that's seen them pull away from rivals. I see Linnets as Town's hardest tie. The local derby and revenge will give Linnets something to play for coupled with a reasonable run of form going into the game.
Barnoldswick , Maine Rd and Bacup may well have saving players for cup semi second legs on their minds to add to injuries and tiredness.
A win on Monday is a must...one that puts Town top puts real pressure on Ramsbottom. I fancy Bootle to take a point off Ramsbottom but Linnets may do the same to Town.
Interesting point here is fitness. Last year Town flagged in the last 10 minutes of games and lost against Holker, etc. This year particularly in the last month they've battered teams in the second half (Alsager and Stone in the last two games). Carey, McShane and Grant are all scoring too. |

very interesting point that about fitness barry and you right to raise it.the town players are going till the whistle now last season sometimes they didnt.simon burton and danny salt put a lot of fitness stamina work sessions in with the lads in pre season and have worked extremely hard on their fitness levels.you also correct with town socoring goals in last 15 mins of games.alsager was the classio example of that and yesterday at stone they kicked on after going 1-1 and at the whistle when it went they were attacking stone.macca has nailed his 30th as well that monkey is off his back now he played well yesterday macca.jason carey is the form man though no doubt of that.hes flying and scoring for fun and carries a real threat now and you right also to mention gareth grant.hes a target man and his hold up play is very good.he brings our midfielders into play more and is clever and can also finish and is also scoring.it gives simon burton options now in his forward line.i'm hoping bottle can knick a draw on tuesday and town go top but i got a feeling like you the return derby at millbank is going to be crucial to towns chances. | |
