I have been busy with Baseball and will be during the next 3 weeks with 4 games per weekend in different towns. I was finally able to go through my stack of Troop notes and am posting the outcome instead making very many phone calls. As my schedule doesn't match with too many other Scouters this is the most efficient way for me to get allot of info. out to many as quickly as possible. Please respond with any questions you may have for me...
SM Troop updates, needs, etc. :
Melakwa is fast approaching and we need to make sure our Grubmasters have the proper camp cookware to cook for a large group like 114. We will be cooking as a Troop and need more large pots, pans, skillets, etc. We need parent help with bringing food to camp, during the week of camp and several other loose ends attended to. If you can help out please contact Mark Smalley at (673-4318 or msmalley@ramcell.net).
Parents!! I think Camp Melakwa will be a great place to spend time with your Scout if you can make time for a day visit or a night or two. It’s OK to bring the whole family. It’s a long and hard drive but wouldn’t your Son be surprised to see you there! Camp directions, etc should be posted at our site soon.
SM Wake-up call to Troop Officers… SM expects to see progress in the position you hold!! Pictures, Our Troop Bulletin Board, Attendance, Dues, PLC Records, Troop Equipment, etc. If you are just wearing the patch and not doing the job… don’t expect to get credit for holding the office!
Tim, for a first year Scout just there to handle your Patrol business at the PLC it looked like you were appointed to also handle allot more! Thanks for standing in to keep notes for the PLC. Older Scouts should step in to do this type of task. You truly excelled in Scouting Spirit when others didn’t want the job!! Thanks for helping 114 go!!
Our Scouts that worked at the ½ shell will get 50% of the total money earned for our Troop. This 50% will be divided between all of the Scouts that attended to help and will go into their Personal Troop Account. Don’t forget… these 10 Scouts need to finish sorting at our 7-5-01 meeting. These 10 Scouts also need to take the cans and cash them in and return the money to Diana. Please wear work gloves, long pants and no sandals as you will be handling allot of GLASS.
Thank You… Tyler H., Kyle, AJ, Sean, Willie, Brady, Danny, Geoff, Tim and Bryant for your help at Music In The Half Shell. You all put allot of effort into getting a messy job done quickly!! Not to mention your effort in serving our Community, earning money for our Troop and also paying your own way in Scouting. GREAT JOB!!
Attention All Scouts … When you or adults plan an outing, community service project, fund raiser, etc. for our Troop, they go through allot of time to think about your safety, how we should look in the public’s eye’s and also make many other plans to make the function work. Your SM fully expects every Scout that attends these functions TO BE PREPARED with the type of Scouting attire they are asked to wear and the tools to do the job safely!! We should be a notch above the rest and always ready.
Don’t forget to make a copy of the pages you have signed off in the back of your book in case your book gets lost. Also remember to keep a Scouting Log and keep it updated for your SMC.
Again… Mike Baker has set up the most proven information highway that a Troop could have for a Scout’s Parents and Troop Leaders. Please get our Troop Information about all of activities out to all of our Parents and Leaders by using one of our best Scouting Resources. Mike is more than happy to post any information Leaders and Committee Members get to him so it can be shared with our entire Troop. There is no doubt that this will help more of 114’s Parents become more involved with our Troop. If they don’t know what is going on… how can they help?
Remember anyone can post a message, leave information or ask a question on our Forum Page at our Web Site.

Info. For SPL :
We are not able to have the church for our August 2nd Troop Meeting.
SM will have 2 large bags of cans to give to the Chipmonk Patrol to cash in for our Troop at our 7-5-01 Meeting. They will need a pick-up truck to haul them off. Please let them know you assigned them this task for not being represented at our PLC. They need to cash them in and give the money to Diana for our Troop. This was a donation from Pacific Power & Light Company.
Did you get the PLC info. to the Chipmonk’s APL?
Have you found out where our Scribe was at the last PLC and why he didn’t have a stand-in?
Please make sure our Troop Yell is ready at our 7-5-01 Meeting. SM has waited many weeks for this task to get done!!
SM & Troop Needs and Info. For Committee :
Can the Committee send a Thank You card to P.P.& L. for their can donation. We may be able to get more cans donated every few months in the future. These donation should average between $35.00 and $40.00. Address is P.P.& L. c/o David Coe 4025 Old Hwy 99 So., Roseburg.
Can we get a copy of our Melakwa “Leader’s Guide” to Mike B. so he can post the important pages on our site? I think this would benefit our Parents in helping their Scout plan his camp schedule. They would also be able to plan their camp visits to see their Scout. I have seen Scouts that are quickly cured of Home Sickness when they see Mom or Dad walk into camp for awhile.
Do we have an updated roster that can be sent via email yet?
Can we get our Committee Meeting Minutes to Mike or on our Forum to be posted on our site for the Adult Leaders and Parents that miss the meeting?
I have had a few Scouts ask me about working at Camp Baker this year. Are we too late to get them signed up as Leaders or Den Chiefs there?
If a MB Councilor is willing to teach larger groups could we get information posted at our site before the MB Class is started so more of our Scouts will have the opportunity to earn that MB?
Mike H. … Have you had time to look at the “Year Pin” page I gave you yet? I’m still wondering if we shouldn’t be getting Year Pins for our boys?
Have our Troop Officers received their patches? We also had 3 Buglers at Camporee, Tyler L., Bryant and Brady.
Can all of our Scouts get a folding Rank Card to take with them on outings instead of having to take their book or get a note signed.
I don’t think all of our Scouts have signed our Troops “Behavior Contract”? Can I also get a blank copy whenever you have time?
Looks like we could have used the Church Van during our Bike Hike outing. Are we contacting the Church about using their Van?
A big THANK YOU to our Scouts, Parents, ASM and Committee Members for all of your hard work in keeping 114 moving at light speed!!
