Quick Melakwa Update

Talked with Mark Kuhn this afternoon. He just returned from a week at Melakwa and gave me some info. about camp:

1. Bring lots of insect repellant. His legs had many bites on them. He said night insects were bad.

2. Fires in firepits were OK in camp. There is plenty of firewood there but, he said to bring a splitting mall. I have and old one I'll bring but, we could use another one.

3. He stressed no open toed shoes!! They had several owies in the lava fields. Had to pull pummy rock out of some feet.

3. Bring tennis shoes for swimming in the lake. It has a rock bottom and is very hard on feet.

I'll have more in about an hour... have to pick a boy up in town now.

More Melakwa Info.

4. We will be able to drive within 50 foot of our camp.

5. Prepare for allot of dust. He said it was getting very dusty.

6. Mark said the boys should do the day hikes if they can. He said one of the lake hikes had great fisning. Said they were catching them on dried shrimp the best.
